Still needs further testing but from what i can see i just successfully turned the EDIMAX into an AP and bridged it to another router. Only took 5 minutes too .

Effectively i am able to go Wireless laptop > Edimax AP > LAN port on Router > Internet & Access to other computer hard lined to router.

Network Settings

To everyone who attended thanks for helping make it a great day. As some of you might have noticed Admin came around to change your PC settings so you could connect to the network.

Unfortunately, these changes may of had an adverse effect on your home network, and you may find yourself unable to access the internet or use other network services.

For the more computer literate of you, and know your way around your network settings, you want to change it back to Dynamic for IP and DNS.

For the rest of us, if you are having trouble at home accessing network services or the internet, you will need to do the following

Windows XP

Open control panel from the start menu

Make sure you are viewing it in classic view, as opposed to category view. (settings on left)

Find the network connections icon and double click on it.

Find the network adaptor you are using.

A dialog window will appear. In the list menu, select Internet Protocol (IP/TCP) and select properties directly below it.

Set to Obtiain an IP address automatically and make sure that Obtain DNS server address automatically is also selected.

Select OK and you are done!

Windows Vista/Windows 7

Open control panel

Select network and sharing center

Click the view status link on the non wireless connection (Windows 7 users will need to make a physical connection with a cable before this will work)

Click properties and continue for the consent window

Select Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

Open properties and continue for the consent window.

Set to Obtiain an IP address automatically and make sure that Obtain DNS server address automatically is also selected.

Hit OK and you are done!

If you still have problems leave a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Next time we will come around when your leaving to reset the settings to avoid problems next time.

The First Esc LAN!

Welcome to the wordpress for Esc (Pronouced Escape) LAN. The blog will be updated with relevant LAN information through the coming days and months as we organise and run other events.

The very first Esc Lan is happening in 8 days! Now that’s not too much notice but hey its the first one.

The details are below.

When : Saturday 24Th October 2009

Time : 9am – Late

Cost : $10 if you RSVP before Friday 23rd (12:30pm) OR $15 on the day.

This includes BBQ lunch and Admission.

Where : 43 Wattle Ave, Villawood, NSW. (Villawood Baptist Church)

Call us if you need transport on the day and we may be able to help.

Other Information

What to bring : Everything you need for your computer. (power-boards recommended)

What we are probably playing : Quake 3:Arena, DoTA, Counter Strike:Source, anything else you got really.

Food : Lunch will be provided. Energy Drinks and Softdrink will be for sale at low low prices. As well as onion rings etc

We will organise dinner with those that are there. Most likly pizza.

So bring cash

There most likely will be tournaments and prizes, more info about that this week.

There also be a small short presentation about “Jesus vs the Skeleton King”
